Charting the Course: Building Momentum for an Exceptional Year

State Officer Selfie

Planning, planning, plus some more planning. Our state officer team has been pushing full steam ahead preparing for the Regional Officer Leadership Conference (ROLC), July 24-27, in Buellton in the South Coast Region. (Did you know that California is divided into six FFA regions, each with its own unique regional officer team and dedicated regional advisor?) At this conference, 54 regional officers from each of our six regions are learning skills to help guide their year of service. Additionally, they participate in industry tours to learn more about agriculture production in the Golden State. Driscoll's, the leading berry producer, and Bonipak, the esteemed value-added vegetable producer, will be among the featured tour hosts.

The excitement doesn't end with the tours; the conference will also unveil this year's theme. Be on the lookout for the reveal video soon to be posted on @californiaffa’s Instagram and Facebook accounts.

We took a break in our preparations for ROLC to visit the California State Fair. We had the honor of making a special appearance during the presentation of colors, while our very own State Secretary, Makena Stanisai, sang the national anthem. During the fair, we also helped congratulate the winners of the swine, goat, sheep, and beef grand champion drives.

As we gear up for the month of August, our officers are getting ready to assist at the California Youth Agriculture Expo and attend the Southern Region’s Leadership Summit, Central Region’s Sectional Officer Leadership Summit (SOLS), and San Joaquin Region’s Sectional Officer Leadership Conference (SOLC).
