Session One kicked off tonight with an explosive entrance by the 2025–2026 State Officers, introducing this year’s conference theme: “Dawn.”
State FFA President, Lily Vaughan welcomed attendees, officially opening the session alongside State Secretary Ryan Taylor, who reported attendance of over 8,000 members and guests. Members were then given an overview of what they can expect throughout the conference, followed by an incredible performance of the National Anthem.
Session One also introduced the 2026 California State FFA Officer Candidates. Additionally, three chapters were recognized for going above and beyond in their efforts to increase CalAgPlate sign-ups, with top honors awarded to Bakersfield Garces Memorial FFA, Alturas - Modoc FFA, and Nipomo FFA.
For the first time ever, California FFA showcased the Creed in Many Languages. FFA members delivered the iconic FFA Creed in multiple languages, including Japanese, American Sign Language, Spanish, Portuguese, and English, celebrating the diversity that makes the organization strong.
Members then heard from keynote speaker Amelia Rose Earhart: pilot, author, and public speaker, who spoke on navigating “turbulence” in both aviation and life. Sharing her journey of overcoming adversity, she left members with a powerful message: “The only plane that never experiences turbulence is one that stays locked up in a hangar.”
Fan-favorite Dale Brisby took the stage next to help introduce the regional competitions taking place throughout the conference. Each session will feature a competition where regions compete for the title of top region.
The competitions kicked off with Brisby's annual mullet contest. With eight finalists recognized, Joshua from the South Coast Region took home the title of Best Mullet, earning their region three points.
To close the session, state officers introduced the new “pin drop” activity being implemented this year. Members can collect designated pins by decoding messages shared after sessions, adding an interactive and engaging element to the conference experience.
The next session kicks off tomorrow at 9:00 am.
