Starting in mid-June, the state FFA officer team has had a jam-packed schedule, beginning with traveling to the California Agricultural Teachers’ Association (CATA) conference in San Luis Obispo. There, we had the opportunity to introduce ourselves to ag teachers from all over the state. While in the area, we stopped in Santa Maria to escape the Central Valley heat wave and visit our State Treasurer, Melissa Lua-Duarte’s family.

We recently reached out to FFA alumni via social media to gather insights into exciting career opportunities just for you. From implementing field audits at the California Olive Ranch to diverse roles in California agriculture, including manufacturing internships with Kraft-Heinz, there's something for everyone. After concluding my year of service as the California FFA State Sentinel, I turned to the Agricultural Council of California to embark on a summer internship, eager for the challenges and opportunities it promised in advocating for agriculture. However, as I reflect on that experience now, I am filled with gratitude for the abundant learning opportunities and personal growth it brought.

Consumers are very particular when it comes to purchasing material possessions. It is commonplace to try on a pair of shoes before purchasing. When thinking about buying a vehicle, it’s almost expected that you ask to test drive before committing. We place value on experiencing the item firsthand before making a purchase.

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, members of the Elk Grove FFA's community service committee recently organized a sock drive aimed at aiding the local homeless population. The event, which took place at Elk Grove High School, had a significant impact on the greater Sacramento area.

In rounding out the month of August, the state officer team paid a visit to Temecula, the home of California FFA State Secretary, Makena Stanisai. During this visit, they explored the area, taking in the sights at an olive oil company and spending quality time with the students of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic High School.
