Overview
The National Chapter Award program recognizes FFA chapters that successfully complete an annual Program of Activities (PoA) which includes a series of activities designed to encourage its members to grow as individuals, to work as part of a team, and to serve others.

Eligibility
In order to qualify for a state or national award, your chapter must complete at least 15 activities: one for each of the five quality standards in each of the three divisions.

Superior Chapter Award
Chapters that complete Form I of the National Chapter Application will receive a State Superior Chapter Award certificate from the California FFA Association. The top one third of California FFA chapters (approx. up to 110) will be recognized with a Gold Spur or Plaque. Each chapter that competes for these awards will receive a multi-year plaque and a spur designating their bronze, gold or silver rating. They will receive additional spurs for each year they compete and receive a rating from the state association.

National Chapter Award
Chapters that complete the entire National Chapter Award application (Forms I and II) are ranked and scored in the National Chapter program. The top ten percent of California FFA chapters (approx. 33) that received a gold chapter award ranking and completed both form I and II are eligible to advance to National FFA competition and will receive a 3-star, 2-star or 1-star rating.
Each chapter that competes for these awards will receive a multi-year plaque and a spur designating their rating. They will receive additional spurs for each year they compete and receive a rating from the National FFA Organization. Chapters that receive a national 3-star chapter rating will be eligible to compete for the National Model of Innovation, Model of Excellence and Outstanding Middle School Chapter Awards.

The National Chapter Award applications are additionally scored prior to the State FFA Convention where a regional finalist is selected from each of the six regions. The six regional finalists are invited to interview at the State Convention to compete for the honor of Top Chapter in the National Chapter Award program

National Competition
Chapters that advance to National FFA competition will have their applications sent back for review and editing following the State FFA Leadership Conference. State Staff will provide support and will assist you in preparing your applications. Revised applications must be resubmitted by June 1st.
