Program Features:

  • Contest and Class titles are user defined. Up to 24 classes may be defined.

  • Classes for Hormel, reasons, and scores up to 9999 are supported.  Hormel scoring is automatic.

  • Classes can be configured to automatically multiply a raw score for proper weighting of the class.  The multiplier can be changed to 0 or a class may be hidden during a contest to drop a class from tabulations.

  • Sub contest results can be defined for any group of classes.  Sub contests can use the same sorting order (tie breaking) as the overall contest or a specific sort can be defined.

  • Data entry by keyboard and/or bar coded form (uses a light pen).  Keyboard entry by class, class/group, contestant, and missing scores only are supported.  Special data entry/scoring is provided for Keep/Cull, Grading, Milk Quality, and Land Judging

  • Scores can be imported from simple CSV files.  This option is useful for importing from OMR scoring machines.  See documentation for OMR scoring options and forms.

  • Teams can be any size, team scores are computed from the designated number of high individuals (ex. Top 3 of 4 or top 5 of 5).

  • Contestants can be grouped for rotations and data entry automatically or manually.

  • Teams can be grouped for separate results reporting (within a single contest).  Useful for combined FFA and 4H contests.

  • Contestants can be grouped for results reporting (ex.  4H age groups).

  • Contest materials can be printed on your forms (ex. score sheet, Scantron) or as bar coded cards (ex. judging cards)

  • Name tags, judges sheets, and other support materials can be printed including randomized reasons orders and contestant lists.

  • Contestants can be imported from external systems such as the CalAgEd Online Registration system, databases, or spreadsheets.

  • Double checking can be practiced by printing double check sheets during data entry or by comparing the data entry of two separate computers.  A check tabulations report is provided to check for missing and out of range scores.

  • Results can be printed at any time.

  • Official placing and cuts can be entered at anytime before printing final results.

  • Raw tabulations and status reports to aid score checking can be printed or viewed.

  • Built-in Tabulations Checklist

Version 2.08a Problems/Issues

  • Import of Red/Blue file is not working.  Contact Mike for a fix.

Version 2.08 Problems/Issues

  • Beef Slaughter Grading Official  displays carcass  grades not quality grades. Fixed in version 2.08a.
  • Remark Templates for 25 question tests are not included in the delivery.  Fixed in version 2.08a.
  • "BLANK" entries are imported into the scoring key with a point value of "1" so they will be used .  Fixed in version 2.08a so they now import with a point value of "0".
  • OMR Keep/Cull cards are not correctly imported.  Fixed in version 2.08a.
  • OMR Beef Carcass grading officials can not be entered allowing for scoring of the cards.  Fixed in version 2.08a.
  • Import of external scores will not tolerate blank (no data) line and data entries.  Fixed in version 2.08a.
  • Key Score with Remark OMR will not work if all five bubbles are marked on the key.  E.g. (A,B,C,D,E).  The key data truncates the answer so the question is marked wrong for all.  Workaround:  Increase the size of the Answer field in the Key table to 12 characters.

Version 2.08 Changes

  • Key Scoring method added for OMR scoring of tests. This allows the importation of tests into the tabulations program for scoring. Questions can have different weights. The method is also used for scoring of Meat Cut ID and Land.
  • OMR (scanned) forms added for Meat Cut ID, Meat Quality Grading, Meat Yield Grading, Meat Questions (A-F), Milk Quality, Cheese ID, Real/Imitation, sheet 25 question tests, and Land Judging
  • Import support was added for the new OMR forms.
  • OMR Templates added for the above forms. Templates are now documented with the form (see contest materials).
  • OMR templates added to support multiple answers on tests (e.g. ABD)
  • Meat Grading scoring added (new class type) for use with OMR forms.
  • Team Score added as a new class type. Allows using of the team score as part of the high individual calculation.
  • Check Tabulations has been enhanced to include checking of total individual and team scores, approval of exceptions. A minimum score by class is also available (defaults to 2 for judging classes and 1 for other classes).
  • Results report option has been added to enforce Checking Tabulations before results printing.
  • Additional documentation has been provided for OMR forms and contest procedures.
  • Importing of scores now ignores contestant numbers that do not exist in the tabulations program.
  • Contestant data can now be directly downloaded from the California Registration System and extra (blank) contestants added.
  • Name Tags in Avery 5160 label format added (cheaper).
  • A new draft results report is available for use in checking tabulations.

Version 2.07 Problems/Issues

  • Questions Cards (bar code): 1) Barcode entry may cause Access to crash  Reason is unknown.  2) ABCDE Questions cards cannot be used as key only accepts numbered answers.  Format changed to make bar code enter numbers.  3) Questions Entry showed "Deleted" entries.
  • Bar code font missing in install.  Fixed in 2.07a1.
  • Keep/Cull scores are computed incorrectly (very low) under some conditions. Fixed in Version 2.07a
  • OMR font missing from installation.  Fixed in 2.07a.
  • Import External Scores for Beef Grading classes hangs program.  Fixed in 2.07a
  • Import External Scores does not tolerate contestant numbers that don't exist in the tabulations program.  Workaround:  Enter the contestant.
  • Some reports (Raw Tabs, Individual Results) don't run under Access 2003 SP1.  Load SP2 (free from Microsoft) to fix this problem.  Note: This might be SP1 or the that all of Access is not loaded.

Version 2.07 Changes

  • CATA Code changes for 2007-2008 have been made.
  • A new setup "wizard" has been added to aid configuration
  • On some results reports scores can be suppressed (see Results Report Options)
  • Program has been tested with Access 2007

Version 2.07 Fixes

The following problems in Version 2.06 have been fixed in Version 2.07

  • Contestant Group (for 4H) is not showing in Contestant Entry even when multiple groups are defined.
  • A "type mis-match" error may occur when attempting to print Individual Results.  The cause of this error is deleting the class title. When a class is not needed make the type of class "hidden" instead of deleting the class title or use the new wizard to setup the correct number of classes.
  • Individual Results will not print for just one class.
  • Only one Keep/Cull and one Grading class is supported in Livestock.  Multiple classes are now supported.
  • Sweepstakes does not print correctly if individual alternates are used (blank lines).
