ANNOUNCEMENTS:

* New edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised

A new edition (the 10th) of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised was published in October, 2000. The best price ($12.95 each) is at www.everett.net/parli-pro/ (click on "catalog").

* New rules for the FFA National Parliamentary Procedure CDE

The new rules for the National FFA Parliamentary Procedure CDE are included on the Chapter Resource Guide 2000-2001 CD-ROM which was distributed last Fall. These new rules will be used for the 2001 National FFA Parliamentary Procedure CDE this Fall.

However, please note, there are a few minor errors on the Chart of Permissible Motions. A new, updated chart, will be included on the revised CD-ROM this Summer and sent to all state winning teams in August, 2001.

If you have questions, contact Dr. Jim Connors (the CDE Superintendent) at Ohio State University (1-614-292-6321) or E-mail him at connors.49@osu.edu

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

Two questions are answered on each E-Bulletin. Send them to dunbar@northwest.net. If questions that were submitted do not appear on an E-Bulletin, they will be answered personally by e-mail.

Q: What happens to a vote on a main motion that is tied by our FFA President at a Chapter meeting?
A: Since a majority in the affirmative is necessary to adopt a main motion, the motion is rejected.
   (RONR page 51)

Q: Is the adoption of a motion at our last FFA Chapter meeting that was not seconded acceptable?
A: If the motion is considered and adopted, the lack of a second has become immaterial, and it is
adopted. Since the motion was discussed and adopted by your Chapter, there were many
"seconders." (RONR pages 35 and 36)

TIPS ON TRAINING A TEAM FROM NATIONAL WINNERS:

* Review the score sheet with team members so they will know exactly how they will be evaluated.

* Build a bank of multiple-choice test questions and answers by placing them on 3 x 5 inch index cards.
